FROM THE OWNER

Hello, I’m Merry, founder of Gentle Day Companions. I provide friendly in-home visits for seniors who may feel isolated or need regular social interaction.

I started this business after realizing how much even short, meaningful conversations can improve a senior’s day. I truly love sitting with seniors, listening to their stories, and helping them feel seen and connected.

While I’m not a counselor, I have a degree in psychology and have completed graduate-level coursework in both psychology and gerontology.

This isn’t just a business to me—it’s about making real human connections.

If you’re wondering whether this might help your loved one, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to answer questions, even if you’re just exploring options.

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Gentle Day Companions, providing structured, in-home social visits for older adults who want friendly conversation and meaningful human connection. Our visits are consistent and relationship-based, offering emotional support while remaining strictly non-medical and non-clinical. For families, this service brings peace of mind through regular, reliable contact and compassionate care.

We treat every client with patience, kindness, and respect, focusing on trust, attentive listening, and honoring individual routines and preferences. All visits are conducted by background-checked providers who follow clear procedures to ensure safety, privacy, and consistency. Providers hold a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card, are screened for tuberculosis, are CPR certified by American Red Cross and are fully insured.

Even short visits can make a meaningful difference. Companionship and conversation may help reduce loneliness, lower anxiety and stress, foster a sense of belonging, and support overall well-being and longevity. Regular social connection may also be protective against age-related conditions such as dementia and cognitive decline.

WHO THIS SERVICE IS FOR

This service is designed for older adults who are seeking friendly companionship, conversation, and gentle social engagement in their home. It is best suited for individuals who:

·         Seniors who want conversation
·         Are able to communicate independently, at least at a basic level
·         Understand who we are and why we’re visiting
·         Are seeking light, supportive interaction
·         Are comfortable with clear boundaries and a structured visit
·         Do not require supervision or assistance in doing daily activities

WHY CHOOSE THIS SERVICE?

·         You don’t need or want a caregiver, just companionship
·         You prefer low-pressure visits rather than hour-long or extended commitments
·         You’re recovering from surgery and appreciate having someone check in on you
·         You don’t have enough opportunities for regular conversation and connection
·         You value a consistent, predictable schedule within a set time window
·  You enjoy seeing the same familiar visitor each time

HOW IT WORKS

 1)      Call or email us to get a free consultation.

2)      After speaking with you and determining if we’re a good fit, we’ll schedule a time to meet you in your home. We’ll go over the service and answer any questions you may have. If you are paying on behalf of the client and are unable to attend, we can either do the consultation over the phone or schedule a video meeting. We will still meet with the client as well.

3)      We’ll review how visits work and answer any questions so everyone feels comfortable moving forward. You’ll be given an agreement that makes sure everything is clear and visits go smoothly.

4)      Once you’ve decided, you can schedule visits. We’ll collect the agreement during the first scheduled visit.‍ ‍
